The 1873 Society Club was created in October 2009 as a membership organization of the Atlanta Humane Society. It exists to raise awareness of the AHS, particularly among the 20's-40's age range group, and support educational programs and general fundraising activities of the Atlanta Humane Society.

The mission of the Atlanta Humane Society is to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well being are fully, effectively and humanely protected by an aware and caring society
